Michigan Retailers Association Endorses Ananich in Senate primary

LANSING — Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) today endorsed State Representative Jim Ananich of Flint in the March 12th Democratic primary for the special Senate election in District 27.

“Rep. Ananich has worked very well with the state’s retailers during his more than two years in the House, and we respect and appreciate his commitment to creating jobs by improving the retail business climate in Michigan,” said William J. Hallan, vice president of government affairs and general counsel.

“Rep. Ananich’s experience and his work in the House, especially his sponsorship of the bipartisan Main Street Fairness Act in 2011, make him the best candidate in the special primary.”

MRA also endorsed Ananich for re-election to the House last November, one of only seven candidates across the state formally endorsed by the retailers organization. MRA named 65 candidates as “Friends of Retail” and identified the seven endorsed candidates as going “above and beyond” by taking leadership roles on key retail issues.

Michigan Retailers Association represents nearly 5,000 members and their more than 15,000 stores and websites in Michigan. Retailers provide more than 850,000 jobs in Michigan.
