Flint, Mich — The Michigan Association of Police Organizations (MAPO) recently announced their full support of Jim Ananich in his bid for the State Senate. Former State Senator John Gleason abandoned the 27th district Senate seat last November, choosing instead to take office as the Genesee County clerk.

In expressing their support, MAPO stated that they are “proud to offer [Jim Ananich] its endorsement in your upcoming election” for the State Senate. MAPO is comprised of eight different organizations that collectively represent 75% of Michigan’s 19,500 certified police officers. The organizations include the Detroit, Warren, and Grand Rapids Police Officers Associations, the Michigan Association of Police, Police Officers Labor Council, the Detroit Lieutenants and Sergeants Association, Michigan State Police Troopers Association, and the Michigan State Police Command Officers Association.

“I am honored to receive the support of the thousands of public safety officers MAPO represents,” said Ananich. “I plan to continue working hard on providing our officers with all the tools and resources they need to protect our neighborhoods and keep our communities safe.”

The special election primary for the 27th district State Senate seat will be held on Tuesday, March 12th. MAPO joins the Farm Bureau’s AgriPac, Michigan and Flint Area REALTORS, UFCW Local 951, Michigan Retailers Association, IBEW Local 498, Ironworkers Local 25, Teamsters Local 332, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters, Michigan Laborers, the Genesee/Lapeer/Shiawasee Building Trades Council, Citizens Against Government Overreach, Small Business Association of Michigan, and many others who have all endorsed Ananich.
