Genesee County Women Choose

Ananich for State Senate

Leaders cite his commitment to education, healthcare, and

public safety

Flint, Mich. - A number of Genesee County women have announced their support for State Representative Jim Ananich (D-49th District) in the special election for the 27th District State Senate seat. The special election primary will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, because former State Senator John Gleason chose to run for County Clerk instead of finishing his State Senate term.

Former State Representative Vera Rison (D-Mt. Morris) said, “Jim will fight to keep seniors and children safe by putting more police on our streets.”

Among the other Genesee County women highlighting their endorsement today include:

  • former State Representative Candy Curtis (Swartz Creek);
  • Bobbie Walton, current President of Michigan chapter of the National Organization for Women;
  • Maryion Lee, Flushing Township Treasurer and Chair of the Genesee County Progressive Caucus;
  • Pegge Adams, Genesee County Board of Commissioners;
  • Ellen Ellenburg, Burton City Councilwoman;
  • Sherry Hayden, President of the College Cultural Neighborhood Association;
  • Tonya Ketzler, Mundy Township Clerk;
  • Karyn Miller, Flint Township Supervisor;
  • Sandy Wright, former Flint Township Treasurer;
  • Pat Hatcher, Carmen-Ainsworth School Board Member, among others.

“I am honored to have earned the support of these strong Genesee County leaders, as each of them are powerful advocates for families across our region,” said Ananich. “Together, I know we can make progress on the issues that will make our communities better places to live and work.”
