Ananich Officially Files for State Senate Seat

Will work to bring people together and get things done

Flint, Mich. - State Representative Jim Ananich (D-49th District) officially filed today to run for the 27th District State Senate seat. The Democratic Primary for the Special Election will be held in less than two months on March 12 because former Senator John Gleason chose to run for Genesee County Clerk instead of finishing his term.

“Families in Genesee County work hard and play by the rules, and they deserve a Senator in Lansing that will work just as hard as they do,” said Ananich. “I’ll be going door-to-door nonstop over the next several weeks to earn the trust of voters who expect someone to help get things done about jobs, public safety, and education.”

Ananich was elected to the State House in 2010 and taught in Genesee County public schools. His current district includes portions of Flint, Flint Township, Swartz Creek, Flushing, Mt. Morris city and township.  His former district included Flint Township, Swartz Creek, Gaines and portions of Clayton Township and Flint. The 27th State Senate District is comprised of Argentine, Clayton, Fenton, Flint, Flushing, Gaines, Genesee, Montrose and Mundy Townships as well as the cities of Fenton, Flint, Flushing, Linden, Montrose, and Swartz Creek.

Since becoming the first candidate to announce last month, Ananich has earned the support of groups representing middle-class families across Genesee County. His endorsements so far include the Genesee/Shiawassee/Lapeer Building Trades Council, The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters, and several others that will be announced later this week.
